Navigate to Settings on Squarespace and click on Cookies and Data Privacy. Then, check the Cookie Banner option. Once that's done, the cookie banner will be enabled.
The image below shows how the Cookie Banner appears on Squarespace.
Inside the settings for the Cookie Banner, we can edit several aspects of its appearance and functionality. First, there is an option to customize the banner, including changes to colors, layout, and other design elements. Additionally, we can modify the text displayed on the banner and adjust settings, such as allowing users to manage their cookie preferences or decline all cookies on the site.
Extra Tip: Once the user has accepted the Cookie Banner, Squarespace automatically displays a banner that looks like the image below, saying "Cookie Preferences". This can be annoying and may clutter your design. You might want to modify or remove this from your footer to maintain a clean look. (Continues below the image)
Go back to the Cookies and Privacy settings. Scroll down to the section called Saved Preferences. By default, it is set to Pill. From here, you can change it to either display as a Subfooter or simply Hidden. Select your desired option and click Save.
