What Is the Text Block?
The Text Block is one of the core content blocks in Squarespace. It allows you to add and style text anywhere on your site — whether that’s on a homepage, product page, blog post, or landing page. You can combine it with other blocks like images or buttons to create custom layouts.
Key Features of the Text Block
Here’s what you can do with it:
Headings & Paragraphs: Structure your content using H1–H4 headings and body text.
Font Styling: Bold, italicize, underline — basic tools that make a big difference.
Text Alignment: Left, center, right, or justified depending on your layout style.
Custom Colors: Highlight text or change font colors to match your brand palette.
Bullets & Numbered Lists: Organize ideas clearly and concisely.
Block Quotes: Pull out key messages or testimonials in a stylish way.
Hyperlinks: Easily add links to other pages, documents, or external websites.
Using Squarespace’s Built-In AI
Squarespace also offers an AI writing assistant inside the text block. You can use it to:
Generate filler or placeholder text while designing
Brainstorm content ideas
Get quick drafts to edit and refine later
It’s a useful tool when you’re staring at a blank page and need a little push.
Tips for Using Text Blocks Effectively
Keep paragraphs short and scannable. Especially important for mobile users.
Use headings correctly. It breaks up the content and helps with SEO.
Balance text with visuals. Don’t overwhelm the page with too much copy.
Use spacing wisely. Add spacers or line breaks for breathing room.
The Squarespace text block might be simple, but it's the foundation of great content on your site. Whether you're writing product descriptions, service pages, or blog posts, mastering the text block will help your site look clean, organized, and professional.
