How to Add Lightbox Functionality to Images and Gallery Blocks in Squarespace

In this short tutorial, learn how to easily add lightbox functionality to your images and gallery blocks on Squarespace.

To add lightbox functionality to an image on Squarespace, simply double-click the image. Click on “Design,” then scroll down to the Lightbox toggle and switch it on.


You’ll then have the option to choose a lightbox theme: Dark or Light overlay. These control the background color when the image opens in the lightbox—either light (white) or dark (black).

 

When it comes to galleries, it works the same way. Simply double-click the gallery block, go to Design, and scroll down the design panel. There, you’ll find the option to toggle on Lightbox. Once enabled, you can again choose between a Dark or Light overlay.
